If you are on Facebook you may have noticed the last few weeks the Synod Facebook page sharing an album every Sunday called “Around the Synod”
with pictures from churches around the synod.
It began when I noticed a lot of churches in our Synod were
doing different interesting things and I decided to share them.  Then I thought what if we did this every week?  And what if I could convince those
posting the pictures to make it easier for me to find all the photos if they
would include the hashtag #AroundtheSynod ?
Not only does this sharing bring us together, but it encourages people
to share what is going on in their churches on social media just like they
share other things they do during the week.
And it encourages congregations to keep sharing things on their Facebook
pages.
Also I’m hoping to get everyone in practice for an ecumenical
social media event on Reformation Sunday, “Social Media Sunday”.   Social Media Sunday began with two church social media administrators in the Episcopalian church with an invitation for people to share their faith online.
You can read more about this here:  #Episcopal
‘Social Media Sunday’ a digital invitation.
It caught on the next year and this year 2015 at the request of Lutherans, the day has been moved to Reformation Sunday.
All church people are invited to post or tweet something about their church on
Reformation Sunday, October 25, with the hashtag #sms15.
Confused about hashtags?  Here’s more information:  Hashtags
for Churches
You’ll be hearing more about this as we get closer to the date but for now, to get ready, this Sunday take a picture, post it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #Around the Synod.
