We have just completed one of the finest seasons in our synod.  It has been the time of county fairs in preparation for the State Fair.

All the 4-H projects have come to fruition.  As one proud father said, “You know, my daughter is pretty shy but she gave a great presentation and is moving on.”  I asked the children as they left worship for the county fair what they are showing.  They told me that vegetables, calves, pigs, rabbits had all been prepared.  The pride was palpable as well as the anticipation that they just may be the one who moves on to the State Fair.

This is one of the best things we do for our young people.

Thanks to all the youth who work and risk to put their projects forward. And thanks to all the adults who empower the next generation of leaders.

I am grateful.
